MARCH/APRIL |
| |
Spring is finally here and as I settle into my new job there is plenty to keep me busy. The warmer weather gives the ideal conditions for getting started in the kitchen garden. A wide range of vegetable and herb seeds will be sown to provide the café with fresh produce throughout the coming seasons. Towards the end of April will see me busy preparing the garden for the NGS Open Weekend on 26th and 27th when the garden will be full of colourful tulips. |

Start mowing the lawn, keep blades at their highest setting and avoid mowing when a frost is forecast. |
| |
Watch out for pests and control them before they become a problem. Try encouraging beneficial creatures such as hedgehogs, ladybirds and lacewings into the garden to help control pests.
| |
Start staking tall perennials, do it now to avoid damaging them as they get taller. |
